The Air Control O-Ring sits under the cap of an air-control valve on the spa shell rim. It's the small rubber ring that prevents water from weeping past the cap thread when the air control is set to closed. When this O-ring fails, you get a slow drip from the top of the air-control fitting whenever the jets are running.
Why this O-ring works hard: Every time you turn the air control to adjust your jet experience, the cap rotates against this O-ring. Over the years that turning friction wears the rubber thin, and at the same time UV from above and chlorinated water from below age the rubber from both sides. Eventually the seal fails and you'll see water on top of the air-control fitting whenever the spa is running.
When to replace: Replace the O-ring any time you see water at the top of the air-control fitting, the cap feels gritty or sticky to turn, or you're already replacing the matching Air Control Internal or cap (Black Round / Bearclaw Clear).
How to install: No need to drain the spa for this one — the air control sits above the waterline. Unscrew the cap, remove the old O-ring, clean the groove, lightly lubricate the new O-ring with plumbing-safe silicone lubricant, seat it cleanly, and re-thread the cap finger-tight.
Quick tips:
- Buy a couple of these at the same time — they're cheap and you'll likely be replacing them across multiple air controls eventually
- Bring the old O-ring to one of our three Ontario showrooms if you're not sure it's the right size for your air control style
