The 2" "L" Ring is the L-shaped rubber sealing ring used at the heater wetend union on Arctic Spas. The L profile (one round side and one flat face) seats into a stepped groove that flat or round O-rings can't seal correctly.
Why this profile is specific: Heater wetend unions on Arctic Spas use a stepped face design that requires the L-profile to seal properly. Substituting a standard round O-ring or a flat gasket in this spot will leak immediately, even when hand-tightened correctly. If you're not sure whether your union takes a standard O-ring or an L Ring, look at the seating groove — a stepped or shouldered groove needs the L profile.
When to replace: Replace the L Ring any time you see water dripping at the heater wetend connection, when you're disconnecting the heater for service, or any time the existing ring has visible cracks, hardening, or compression damage.
How to install: Drain the spa below the heater first. Disconnect the union, remove the old L Ring, clean the seating groove with a paper towel, lightly coat the new ring with plumbing-safe silicone lubricant, and seat it cleanly with the L profile oriented to match the groove. Hand-tighten the union — never use a wrench on a plastic spa union.
Quick tips:
- If your fitting takes a flat gasket rather than an L Ring, you need the 2" Flat Gasket instead
- Replace any heater-area sealing components in pairs while you have the union apart — they age at the same rate
- Bring the old L Ring to one of our three Ontario showrooms if you're not sure which sealing profile fits your heater
